International Manhunt Launched for Husband of Woman Found Dead in Ilford
An international manhunt is underway for Pankaj Lamba, who is suspected of murdering his 24-year-old wife, Harshita Brella, from Corby, Northamptonshire. Harshita's body was tragically discovered in the boot of a car on Brisbane Road, Ilford, prompting a joint murder investigation by Northamptonshire Police and the Metropolitan Police.
Detectives believe Lamba may have fled the country following the crime. Chief Inspector Paul Cash of Northamptonshire Police confirmed that Harshita’s murder likely took place in Northamptonshire earlier this month before her body was transported to Ilford by car.
“Our inquiries lead us to suspect that Harshita was murdered by her husband, Pankaj Lamba,” Chief Inspector Cash stated in a press conference on Sunday evening. “We believe he has now left the country.”
More than 60 detectives are currently working on the case, pursuing various leads, including door-to-door inquiries, property searches, and reviews of CCTV and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) data. The force is determined to bring justice for Harshita and her family.
Chief Inspector Cash also made a public appeal for any potential witnesses or anyone with information, no matter how minor, to come forward. “I urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or who has any information, no matter how small, to contact us. We would prefer to receive information that turns out to be insignificant rather than miss critical details.”
